Exceptions to Mandatory Mail Service
Although you may choose to use the mail service program
because it is more convenient for you, the following
prescription medications are exceptions to the mandatory
use of the mail service program. Prescriptions for these
items always may be obtained at a retail pharmacy:
- Insulin and syringes (but not blood sugar
level test strips, for which you must use the
mail order program);
- Miacalcin;
- Xalatan;
- Anti-infectives (antibiotics, anti-fungals
and anti-virals);
- Topical medications (creams, gels and ointments);
- Vaginal medications (creams, gels and ointments);
- Controlled substances (may not be ordered by mail);
and
- Cough and cold medications.
